Where does each sorted Lotto Max number sit?
Across 1,281 Lotto Max draws an average draw has put 3.4 of its seven numbers above the seat chance picks for them, where chance predicts 3.5.
Sorted smallest to largest, chance seats those numbers evenly across the pool, 6.6 apart at today's pool of 52. The position furthest from its seat is the highest number, at 1.6 standard errors. That is the record to draw 1281 on 2026-10-23. Your own numbers go in the box further down.
What was measured one reading per draw
Sort a draw and every number has a place: the lowest, the second lowest, and so on up to the highest. Chance spreads those places evenly, giving the first of them a seat one spacing along the pool, the second two spacings along, and the last one a spacing short of the top. The pool has been 49 then 50 then 52 numbers here, which moves every seat, so each draw is read against its own pool and a format change is never read as a trend.
A seat is not the middle of its own position, though, which is the thing that makes the second table below worth reading. The lowest number has a long tail upward and a short one downward, so its average sits above the middle of its own spread and chance puts fewer than half of its draws above its seat. Turning the pool back to front swaps the two ends, so the top end is the mirror of the bottom end rather than of itself, and chance predicts slightly fewer than half the positions of a draw above their seats at some pool sizes, where a seat falls on a whole number that a draw can land exactly on, and exactly half at the others.

Where each position has averaged, against the seat chance gives it
| Position | Chance seats it | Record average |
|---|---|---|
| Lowest | 6.3 | 6.21.0 SE |
| Second lowest | 12.7 | 12.60.6 SE |
| Third lowest | 19.0 | 19.00.3 SE |
| Fourth lowest | 25.3 | 25.30.1 SE |
| Fifth lowest | 31.7 | 31.70.1 SE |
| Sixth lowest | 38.0 | 37.71.6 SE |
| Highest | 44.4 | 44.11.6 SE |
The furthest from its seat is shared, two positions reading 1.6 standard errors out. Those seats are each draw's own seat averaged over the record, which is why they sit 0.3 closer together than today's spacing of 6.6: the pool was a different size for much of the record. Reading seven positions, chance alone puts 0.70 of them that far out, so a gap that size would not be explained by the number of positions read. No position sits outside the range chance allows, where reading this many of them puts 0.32 outside.
How often each position has landed above its own seat
| Position | Chance | Draws above |
|---|---|---|
| Lowest | 48838.1% | 4890.1 SE |
| Second lowest | 57845.2% | 5640.8 SE |
| Third lowest | 60347.1% | 6020.1 SE |
| Fourth lowest | 62949.1% | 6200.5 SE |
| Fifth lowest | 67852.9% | 6601.0 SE |
| Sixth lowest | 70354.8% | 6870.9 SE |
| Highest | 79361.9% | 7780.9 SE |
The predicted shares in that table are not halves, and that is the shape of a position rather than anything in the record: chance puts 38.1% of the lowest number's draws above its seat and 61.9% of the highest number's, the one being the mirror of the other. Adding the predicted counts down that column gives the figure at the top of the page back again, since both tables read the same sorted draws. No position sits outside its range. Nothing here was picked out for being extreme, the question being whether the record matches an even spacing rather than which position was the strangest, so the only figure left unmarked is the furthest from its seat above.
Recent trend last 100 draws, then blocks of 20
The first 100 draws put 3.3 positions above their seats on average against a predicted 3.5, and the last 100 put 3.7 against 3.5, which is 0.9 standard errors above it. Chance predicts the same figure for both stretches, to the nearest tenth.

result for the blockrange ordinary variation allowsoutside that range
Oldest block on the left, newest on the right, and the band is what chance predicts for those same draws, read at the pool each one was drawn from. The band shifts where the pool changed, since that moves every seat. No point sits outside the band here. Across ten blocks, chance alone puts 0.46 of them outside, so a point outside would not be explained by the number of blocks read.
Applied to this draw draw 1281 · 2026-10-23
Draw 1281 was 08212328303947.
The number furthest from its seat in that draw was 21 in the second lowest place, 7.8 above its seat of 13.3. Being the furthest out of seven places, it is further from its seat than a typical place by definition, so that gap is a feature of reading seven places rather than of that draw.

Two numbers are enough. You can put in up to seven, from 52, and each one comes back beside the seat chance gives its place in a set that size.
Nothing typed yet, so these are the numbers of draw 1269, the draw at today's pool of 52 whose numbers sat furthest from their seats in total.
