Which groups of three Lotto Max numbers have never come up?
Of the 22,100 groups of three the Lotto Max pool allows, 4,350 have never been drawn in 1,282 draws, where chance predicts 4,356.
A group waits because there are a great many slots to fill, not because its numbers are unlucky. The one thing that does mark the waiting list out is how long each group has been available to be drawn, and that is what the rows below are arranged around. Your own numbers go in the box further down.
What was measured 35 groups per draw
A group of three is three of the pool's numbers in no order. Draw 1282 was 01202426333650, which holds 35 groups of three, so across 1,282 draws the record has drawn 44,870 groups counting repeats, and 17,750 of them were different, against the 22,100 the pool allows.
One named group sits inside one draw with probability 35 in 22,100, about 16 chances in ten thousand at the pool of 52, so a group goes unseen through a draw almost every time and the predictions below are those near misses multiplied together over the draws that could have held it. Which draws those are is settled by the group's largest number: there are C(m − 1, 2) groups whose largest number is m, available in precisely the draws whose pool reaches m. This game has drawn from three pool sizes, 49 then 50 then 52 numbers, so a group needing 52 to exist has had far fewer chances than one that could have turned up from the start, and every prediction here is summed over a group's own run of draws.

The rows are cut from the pool alone, before any draw is read, so that each holds about the same number of groups, between 2,643 and 2,886 of them. That makes the shares in the last two columns comparable from row to row. Chance does not predict the same share in every row, and the reason is the pool rather than the sums: a high total needs the numbers that joined the pool later, and those groups have had fewer draws to appear in. Taking the youngest groups out removes that tilt, and across the eight rows that still hold groups available for every draw read, chance predicts the same 9.7 in a hundred waiting in each, while the record runs from 8.6 to 11.0 in a hundred, on 9.9 overall. The widest gap between a row and its own prediction is 1.1 in a hundred, in the row from 6 to 49. Some row has to be the widest of eight, so that is where a list of this length starts rather than a finding about those sums.
Nothing in the tables here is printed in red, and that is deliberate rather than an omission. The groups are not independent of one another: one draw lifts 35 groups at once and they share numbers. Expectation is additive all the same, which is why every prediction above is exact, but the spread of these counts would need the covariance between groups that share numbers, and that is not honestly available. A range would have to be invented, so none is given. The figures on this page that do carry ranges are read a different way, draw by draw, further down.
The same groups by their largest number, which is the same thing as when they came into existence
| Largest number | Chance waiting | Waiting |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 49 18,424 groups, available in 1,282 draws | 1,7809.7% | 1,8249.9% |
| Exactly 50 1,176 groups, available in 779 draws | 29625.1% | 28324.1% |
| From 51 to 52 2,500 groups, available in 58 draws | 2,28091.2% | 2,24389.7% |
This is the waiting list's one real feature. In the oldest band 9.9 in a hundred are still waiting; in the youngest it is 89.7 in a hundred. Chance predicts them to part company in exactly that way, since a band with fewer draws behind it has had fewer chances, and this is also why raw tallies cannot be ranked against each other: a group that has only existed for 58 draws is being compared with one that has had 1,282.

Red marks a figure outside the range ordinary variation produces
The same record read the other way round, one draw at a time. Going into a draw some groups are already on record, and the rest of that draw's 35 groups are first timers. That count has an exact prediction and an exact range, because a draw's prediction is read off the draws before it and never off itself. The first 100 draws brought 3,190 first timers against a predicted 3,192, and the last 100 brought 619 against 601. Chance predicts the fall between the two: the fuller the record, the more often a draw repeats a group it has already had.
First timers per draw, one point per block of 20 draws
result for the blockrange ordinary variation allowsoutside that range
Oldest block on the left, newest on the right. The band is what chance predicts for those same draws, worked out from each draw's own pool and from the groups on record going into it. It rises towards the right, because the pool grew inside this stretch and a wider pool brings in groups no earlier draw could have produced. No point sits outside the band. Across ten blocks, chance alone puts 0.46 of them outside, so a point outside would not be explained by the number of blocks read.
Applied to this draw draw 1282 · 2026-10-27
Draw 1282 was 01202426333650 from a pool of 52, which holds 35 groups of three. Of those, eight had never been drawn before, where chance predicted 6.9, which is 0.2 standard errors above it.
One of its numbers, 50, joined the pool after the first draw read, and most of the groups they belong to are still waiting, which is why a draw holding them takes more off the list than the prediction for an average draw.
The first five of them, in order, each off the waiting list for good.
Try your own numbers which of their groups are still waiting
Three numbers from 52 are enough, and up to seven are read, a whole draw's worth. Every group of three they make comes back with its record, the ones still waiting first.
Nothing typed yet, so these are the lowest seven numbers the pool has.
Those numbers make 35 groups of three. Of those, two have never been drawn, where chance predicts 3.4.
Further groups are not shown here, 23 of them.
